IRS Health Care

Live anywhere near true Obama believer and you've likely seen a placard for 'Single Payer' health care. That way it doesn't seem as nasty as calling for 'Government' health care. Lately the 'Public' option is spouted as the answer.

Ask your friends if they are in favor of IRS run health care. After all it's the same people. Bureaucrats interested in keeping their own jobs, finding creative ways to make it to retirement with the largest possible government check.

My guess is that health care reform looses even more support when people are reminded of the great care and concern embodied by the IRS, Amtrak, Post Office, EPA, OSHA... insert your favorite government agency here.

Obamacare and the other Democrat plans would be fodder for the late night talk shows, if they told jokes about the current clowns in the White House and Congress. It would be hilarious if the devastation 1/6 of the US economy wasn't so serious.

Clinton Waitress

The recent snafu about Hillary leaving or not leaving a tip for a waitress illustrates the problem of liberal government.

First, they say they left a $100 tip for a $150 bill. Now 20% is a fine tip 25% generous, but over 60%. Liberal tend to overpay.

Second, this wasn't paid by the eaters, but by the champaign coffers. Liberals are generous with other people's money. (Remember Hillary deducting Bill's underwear as a charitable deduction.)

Third, the money they intended to get to the waitress didn't get to her. The entire amount was consumed by the "restaurant bureaucracy." No one seams to know where the money went. Welfare is only marginally better, delivering a whopping 28% to the intended. Government is wasteful.

There in one campaign story are the reasons never to elect a liberal to a position responsible for spending money.

Carter Rewritting History

Once again Jimmy is trying to re-write history. He is desperate to shake the worst POTUS ever crown and believes his 'success' in the Middle East is the key to solving the issue of Palestine.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070911/ts_alt_afp/entertainmentcanadafilmfestivalmideastusiranreligion_070911023002

First, which would you rather be: a Palestinian living in Israel, a Christian living in Gaza or a Jew living (well for a short time anyway) living in Jordan or Syria. Already you can see Carter has no idea what really is at stake.

Second, doesn't Jimmy remember Sadat paid the price for Carter's 'success'? Should make anyone real excited about working for Carter's Peace.

Third, I half expect Cater to call his plan the means to "Peace for our times." Are you sure his middle name isn't Neville.

Americans must remember the failure of Carter is universal and complete. Unfortunately the education system works so well that most Americans think Carter founded Habitat for Humanity.  I guess the only legacy Carter can have is one not of his own success but of another.

Kerry's Contempt

Kerry's contempt for the military is well documented, at least by Hannity.

What is more important is his contempt for everyone else. He actually thinks you will believe his drivel about his botching a joke. Thinks you are too stupid to figure out he is lying. How Clintonesque.

Revolutionary History

At this years Fourth of July picnic, I asked the other adult how many Americans died in combat during the Revolutionary War.  Answers ranged from 40,000 to 500,000 (it was a small sample).

Do your own experiment around the water cooler, at a picnic, wherever. See if your results compare with mine.

With the actual total 4435 (The History Guy: Casualties From America's Wars) (maybe the records from back then are not the best), all my interviewees were shocked.

Expecting the results, I was thinking about the implications of our lack of knowledge. The following questions arose:

Do we really have any concept of large numbers of deaths? Does the death toll in Iraq really have any significant bearing on the discussion about continuing the war?

How bad is our educational system? Do we really have so little context with which to understand our world? Have we sucked all life out of History, with boring dates and numbers?

Has Hollywood's presentation of History become more real that real History? I'll admit that I think I saw all 4435 die in Mel Gibson's "Patriot." Why can't we separate fact from fiction?
